  • Description: The patio is the secret weapon of any club owner. Just ask Mr. Charles
Khabouth of Guvernment/Ultra fame. He has two of the best patios in the entire city.

But another emerging patio has arrived and will be a hotspot throughout
this summer. Wetbar, situated atop of Level Nightclub, opened last year and instantly had a packed house of patio seekers regularly drinking and socializing under the stars. Situated right on Peter Street, Wetbar is in the middle of the madness that is the club district, but still upscale enough to a more sophisticated demographic.

To get to Wetbar, one must enter through Level Nightclub, while passing by
Suite 106 on the way. Getting into Wetbar is tough. No, it isnÂ’t the flights
of stairs you have to walk up, rather it is getting past the long lines,
arriving before capacity, and of course, meeting the style code requirements
set forth by the venue. The place fills up early on any given night, and the
VIPS and the bottle service customers get first priority. Needless to say, arriving fashionably late is not an option.

If you meet the criteria at the door, and arrive early enough to get into Wetbar, there are several pleasures that await you. First of all, the décor for the patio is simple yet elegant. The patio is very bright and vibrant, which is visually stimulating, and creates an aura of calmness. This is not a hectic, busy, fast paced patio (unlike some other ones this city has to offer), rather it is a place to socialize, dance, and be seen.

Patios in Toronto are problematic. For one thing, we only get to enjoy the patios for 3 to 4 months of the year. And when we do get to enjoy the patios, we have to worry about the clouds looming overhead. Oftentimes, perfectly good patio nights are ruined by the mere threat of rain. And a lot of those times, it doesn’t rain AT ALL, it is just a cloudy night. With the retractable roof at Wetbar, the patio is open rain or shine.

The clientele at Wetbar is very young and upscale. For the most part, they are just getting started with regular downtown clubbing and they should remain loyal to the venue for many years to come. Eventually, they will grow into the King Street West scene, but that won’t worry the owners as a new crop of clubbers will emerge and become Wetbar regulars.

As for the nights, Thursdays is a young stylish crowd mostly hailing from the suburbs, while Fridays are an older, mature crowd. Saturdays consists of a mainstream crowd, but they are a bit older than Thursdays.
